Polychrome "Capped Spiral" Large Water Jar

Zuni Polychrome: Capped Spirals with the Sun & Lightning patterns has been used to decorate pottery made at several of the pueblos since well before the 1800's. These design patterns have been utilized earlier than before the late 1700's, the spirals were placed in various parts of the overall pattern. On this Paloma pot, the body has been separated and divided into 3 parts to accommodate the patterns while the neck of the jar is divided into 4 segments to show the traditional "dagger" pattern with the rain and clouds. Hand painted and signed: Paloma 7/2022 Zuni, N.M.
