The Migration from Ribbon Falls
Many groups have migrated through the area of Ribbon Falls, Grand Canyon in time memorial. The two groups that migrated eastward to find the middle place of fertile high valleys is know as the present day-Zuni Pueblo. The other group of Zunis went south all the way to South America. This polychrome water jar is showing the "movement" of different conventionalized, deer with the heart line that represents classic Zuni Deer motifs. On the neck of the jar, there are painted yellow ochre rain birds that represent the cardinal 4 directions that the birds are guiding the deer to find the present day Zuni.
